Seven states, FCT report 63 new COVID-19 cases

The Federal Capital Territory and seven states have recorded 63 new COVID-19 infections, according to figures released on Friday by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

The NCDC disclosed this on its official Twitter handle on Friday.

According to the NCDC, the 63 new cases were recorded from five states.

Lagos reported 25 new cases, Ondo – 22, Rivers – 6, Akwa Ibom – 3. Kaduna –3, Kwara – 2 while Ebonyi and the FCT each reported one new infection.

The NCDC says this latest report includes: “0 cases from Plateau, Nasarawa, Sokoto, Kano, Ogun, Osun, Oyo and Ekiti States”.

 According to the health agency, the 63 new COVID-19 infections have brought the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country to 166,254.

The health agency also noted that 156,546 COVID-19 patients have so far recovered and have been discharged in the country.

The NCDC also reported no new COVID-19 related death, noting that the toll from the virus is still 2,071.

It said that a multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre, activated at Level 3, had continued to coordinate the national response activities.
