United complete terms for Marcel move
Manchester United have agreed a deal to land Bayern Munich’s Marcel Sabitzer on loan until the end of the season, writes NEIL CUSTIS.
The club signed off terms with the German giants this afternoon and the Austria star is now flying to Manchester to complete his move.
Sabitzer has been on the Red Devils radar for some time as what they describe as a ‘high quality’ midfielder.
But the move has been accelerated by the injury to Christian Eriksen which will sideline the Dane until at least the end of April.
With Donny van de Beek out for the season and Scott McTominay unavailable due to a muscle injury for at least a fortnight, United were left short in midfield.
They had only Fred and Casemiro in terms of senior players to call upon in those central roles.
Manager Erik Ten Hag said earlier in the day that he could not replace Eriksen like for like but he was confident of having a player with different qualities to fill the gap.
Ten Hag said: “I think you can never fill that gap because every player has his own characteristics, identification, another player will always fill in in a different way but it doesn’t mean you have to be less successful.”
