Eight states and the Federal Capital Territory have recorded 48 new COVID-19 infections, according to the latest figures released by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
The NCDC disclosed this on its official Twitter handle in the early hours of Saturday.
According to the NCDC, the 48 new cases were recorded from the eight states and the FCT.
Lagos recorded 16 new cases, Yobe – 16, Kano – 8, Gombe–3, while Akwa Ibom, Delta, Kaduna, Rivers and FCT each reported one new infection.
The NCDC says the states with 0 cases reported include, “Ekiti, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Oyo and Sokoto”.
According to the health agency, the 48 new COVID-19 infections have brought the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country to 166,730.
The health agency also noted that 162,584 COVID-19 patients have so far recovered and have been discharged in the country.
The NCDC reported no new COVID-19 related death, noting that the toll from the virus is still 2,117.
It said that a multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre, activated at Level 3, had continued to coordinate the national response activities.
