CHILLING images show the moment a murder suspect flees an apartment building where a woman was later found dead.
Sandra Maria de Sousa Silva was discovered two days after the footage was taken.
Concerned neighbours hired a locksmith to break into the apartment in the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil, after hearing the infant crying constantly.
Inside they found the young hairdresser dead on her bed and her eight-month-old baby in her cot.
Police suspect the victim was killed by the man in the picture who is believed to be her boyfriend.
According to reports, the victim’s body had been violently attacked with wounds on her face and head, apparently caused by a bladed weapon.
The baby, who had apparently not been fed for at least two days, was rescued and taken to a local hospital for medical care.
The baby had bruising on her body and showed signs of dehydration and malnutrition.
The police believe the marks were the result of desperate attempts to get her out of the crib.
Authorities say they are now investigating the hairdresser’s death as femicide and suspect her Mexican boyfriend of carrying out the killing.
The suspect – who was later named as Daniel Ospina Garcia – was seen by neighbours leaving the victim’s apartment with a packed bag on July 22.
At the time of writing, he is still at large.
