16 states, FCT report 433 COVID-19 cases, two deaths

16 states and the Federal Capital Territory reported 433 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, according to figures released on Friday by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

The health agency also reported two COVID-19 related deaths. 

The NCDC disclosed this on its official website on Friday.

According to the agency, the 433 new cases were recorded from FCT, Lagos, and 15 other states.

The FCT recorded the highest number of new infections with 191 cases, Lagos – 79, Anambra – 63, Rivers – 27, Plateau – 13, Oyo – 10, Delta – 9, Ondo – 8, Edo – 7, Gombe – 6, Akwa Ibom – 5, Borno – 5, Ekiti – 4, Bayelsa – 2, Zamfara – 2, while Enugu and Kano states reported a single case each.

The health agency said the 433 new COVID-19 infections have brought the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country to 203,514.

However, 191,942 COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged in the country, the agency said.

With two COVID-19 related deaths reported, the death toll from the virus has risen to 2,668, NCDC said.

It added that a multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre, activated at Level 2, had continued to coordinate the national response activities.
